A health record the owner brings to your consulting room.
We built the GenoVaq lifelong health record because most owners do not have one place to keep their animal's history, and the consequence — felt by vets every consultation — is that a great deal of what would help you at the start of the appointment is sitting in fragments on the owner's phone, in their kitchen drawer, or, often, nowhere at all.
This page is a short, factual description of what GenoVaq is, what it is not, and how the record works in practice when an owner shares it with you. It is written for vets. There is nothing to sign up to, and no app to install.
From your side
An owner generates a read-only share link from their animal's GenoVaq profile — either as a QR code on their phone or as a plain link in a message. At the appointment, you scan or click. There is no account, no app and no installation on your end.
What you see is a single, calm read-only view of the animal: profile (breed, age, relevant breeding information when present), uploaded documents (vaccination certificates, vet records, insurance schedules, test results), and the owner's reminders. The link expires automatically, and the owner can revoke it at any time.
What you cannot do — by design — is edit anything, add records to it, or contribute clinical data. The record is the owner's, with you as a read-only guest for that appointment. Anything you would normally enter goes into your own clinical system, exactly as it does today.
What GenoVaq is not
A short, deliberate list — because these things matter when you are deciding whether to engage with a new platform a client is bringing in.
- GenoVaq is not a clinical record system, and it does not connect to your practice management software.
- GenoVaq does not diagnose, prescribe or advise.
- GenoVaq does not generate revenue from vets, and we will not invoice you.
- GenoVaq does not market your services to anyone.
- GenoVaq is not a replacement for any conversation between you and an owner — it sits alongside it, with information you would otherwise be asking the owner to find on their phone.
Why we built it
The fifteen minutes you get with most animals each year is short, and the more of it that has to be spent piecing together history, the less is left for what actually matters in the consultation. An owner who can hand over a coherent, up-to-date record at the start is genuinely helping the conversation.
We built the record for owners — they fill it, they own it, they share it — but it only does its job if it is useful to you. We would rather hear that it saved a vet five minutes than that an owner found it convenient.
Who GenoVaq is
GenoVaq is a UK company that runs two things. The lifelong health record above, which is free for any owner. And a verified marketplace for canine and sports-horse breeding genetics, which is how we earn our income (a 10% transaction commission). We think the two reinforce each other — the marketplace gives the next generation of animals a better start, and the record follows each animal through the rest of its life.
More about our principles is on the approach page, and there is a free, public Welfare Hub with buyer education and signposting to UK welfare charities.
If you'd like to tell us what works
We are quietly building a small network of UK vets who use the GenoVaq record in their consultations and are willing to tell us what is genuinely useful and what is not. If you would be open to that — a short conversation, no obligation — we would like to hear from you.
Email info@genovaq.co.ukGenoVaq is a marketplace facilitator and a health-record information service. It does not provide veterinary advice and does not interfere with the clinical relationship between an owner and their veterinary surgeon.
