Description
Aytee Kennels has bred German Shorthaired Pointers in Canterbury, New Zealand for nearly fifty years, for natural ability and trainability rather than for the show ring alone — though the kennel has bred show champions too. The programme runs across New Zealand, the UK and Ireland, and between them its dogs hold four UK and Irish Field Trial Championships, a UK Full Championship, a New Zealand Show Championship, the 2015 UK National Kennel Club HPR Championship and the HPR Breeders Cup in both 2018 and 2019. Lucie Hustler and Harriett Brownell run the kennel together. All breeding stock is registered and health tested before breeding, and puppies go only to homes willing to train the dog — the kennel's own guidance to buyers is blunt about this: "please only enquire if you are truly interested in putting in the time to create an obedient companion." This is a general profile of the breeding programme. The kennel's most recent litter — sire Am Ch Edelmarke Second Coming, JH ROM ("Sherman"), dam UK Ch Aytee Katerina ("Karat") — was born 26 May 2025, and all seven puppies from it have now been placed. Lucie has confirmed the next planned litter, by artificial insemination, for the end of 2026: dam Ch. Aytee Quintessa ("Mavis") and sire Pentabibrook Peregrine ("Quinn"). Timing and availability to be confirmed directly with Lucie nearer the date.

Other dams behind the kennel's recent record: UK FT Ch Aytee Isadora ("Dora"), born 6 July 2011, the first UK National Kennel Club HPR Champion (2015), with 17 UK field trial awards and 16 Green Stars in Irish field trials, dam of the K, L and O litters; and IRE FT Ch Aytee Juniper ("Jerzi"), born 6 June 2013, an Irish Field Trial Champion with 22 field trial awards across Ireland and the UK, dam of the M litter and litter sister to the kennel's 2018 and 2019 UK HPR Breeders Cup winner.
