Description

Murthwaite Talisman is a registered and licensed Fell Pony stallion standing at Dragonfly Acres in Langley, British Columbia — one of very few licensed Fell stallions available in Canada, and therefore one of the few routes to the breed for North American mare owners without importing an animal. Foaled 2015. Black. Registration FP72461C, licence number FP815. The Fell Pony Society's stallion listing describes him as offering conformation, temperament and movement; broken to ride and very sensible; handsome and stocky, and easily managing an adult rider. It notes a sensible demeanour with confidence and curiosity. He is offered in hand, at livery, or running with the mare, and semen is available fresh and frozen under a Fell Pony Society artificial insemination permit.

Lineage / pedigree

Sire: Wellbrow Lancashire Lad, FP71670C*. Dam: Murthwaite Natasha, FP3928. Registered with the Fell Pony Society as FP72461C; stallion licence FP815.

Performance

Broken to ride and described by his owner as very sensible, confident and curious, and able to carry an adult rider. No show or competition record is claimed on the Fell Pony Society listing, and none is claimed here. Progeny record to be confirmed with the stud.

Health testing

FIS (Foal Immunodeficiency Syndrome) status is NOT stated on the Fell Pony Society stallion listing for this pony, and we have not yet seen a certificate, so we are not claiming one. The Society's own guidance to mare owners is to ask the stallion owner directly and to ask to see the laboratory certificate, noting that very few licensed stallions are untested. We have asked Dragonfly Acres for the certificate and will publish the result here, either way, once we have seen it. This is exactly the sort of gap GenoVaq exists to close: the honest answer today is that the paperwork has not yet been produced to us.
